Calculating Country Statistics

We get asked all the time, where we found this information or how we know these calculations are accurate. So, I thought it would be good to share how we calculate this information… all you need is: 1. the population, 2. the death rate (per 1,000 people), and 3. the percentage evangelical.

There are many ways to find the population of a country and all of them are relatively the same. We use the Joshua Project, because it provides us with a lot of other valuable information… like the percentage of evangelicals, the number of people groups, etc…

To know the death rate (per 1,000 people) we use the World Bank.

The first step is to calculate the number of 1,000 person units in a given country, which is to divide the population by 1,000. The second step is to calculate the number of deaths per year, which is to multiple the number of 1,000 person units by the death rate (per 1,000 people). The third step is to calculate the number of deaths per day, which is to divide the number of deaths per year by the number of days per year. The fourth step is to calculate the number of believers that die per day, which is to multiple the number of deaths per day by the percentage of evangelicals. The fifth step is to calculate the number of unbelievers that dies per day, which is to subtract the death per day by the number of believers that die per day. Population ÷ 1,000 = 1,000 person units

1,000 person units x the death rate (per 1,000 people) = deaths per year

Deaths per year ÷ Days per year = Deaths per day

Deaths per day x percentage of evangelicals = Believers that die per day

Deaths per day – Believers that die per day = Unbelievers that die per day
